There is a new search engine in town and Kosmix is it’s name. Reading about it on SiliconBeat is intriguing and from the sounds of it, they may have hit on a way to improve results from current algorithms. I thought I might speculate a bit on how this thing called “Category Rank” might work.

I have been using Google Analytics lately. In the past I have used NetTracker extensively and evaluated other products such as WebTrends and ClickTracks I like some of the Google features, clean user interface and integration with AdWords. But I yearn for the flexibility and power of NetTracker.

This was a fascinating move by Google and smart. Imagine, they will be able to deduce exactly how much traffic their users are buying from Yahoo and MSN (and conversion rates!). They will also have inside information on companies that may be acquisition targets!
